The traditional skills (fire lighting, backwoods cooking, knots and lashings, emergency first aid, cooking, walking/backpacking) form the core of our activity programme but we do much more than that. Domestic skills such as ironing, washing up, peeling vegetables, craft skills such has plaster casting, tie dye and pumpkin carving, as well as more digital skills such as online safety and stop-motion videos are a few examples of a wide and varied programme.
As well as our regular weekly programme, we go on many camps, sleepovers and activity days during the year. On these occasions we are able to do more adventurous activities such as climbing, zipwire, abseiling, tomahawk throwing, archery, crate stacking, canoeing and raft-building. We’ve even done scuba diving and parascending!
We’ve also been able to partner with local third parties to provide activities, and these include our local karate club, the AA (for our mechanics badge) and the Band of the Household Cavalry!
An explorer, adventurer and TV presenter, Dwayne's been seen in BAFTA nominated Channel 5 series Race to the Pole, on BBC Springwatch, Countryfile, National Geographic and Disney+.
